SUGGESTED ACTION FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY
LEADERS
-
- If you would like to help TSHBI at your local level, there are
three major areas where your involvement as a leader would make a
difference:
-
- 1. ELEVATING LEVEL OF INTEREST in "telecommuting safety and
health benefits" (TSHB).
-
- -write legislators and express support for TSHB as a "new and
very
- effective way to improve safety and health throughout the
state");
-
- -write your Governor or other local leader and express your
support for TSHB;
-
- -raise TSHB issues in your meetings; and
-
- -encourage colleagues, family, and friends to do the
same.
-
-
- 2. PROMOTING TSHB TO EMPLOYERS (both government *and* private
employers).
-
- -identify or create a city/county/local entity with the
responsibility for
- encouraging and facilitating telecommuting (most likely that
entity
- could be one person or a small group of people);
-
- -ask your Governor or other local leader to identify or create
such an entity, as well; and
-
- -contact city/county/state agency heads responsible for public
safety,
- occupational safety and health, traffic safety, public health,
etc.,
- and urge them to place "telecommuting" at the top of their
priorities.
-
-
- 3. PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT to TSHBI.
-
- -sponsor TSHBI's research and educational work (click
here for
- information about TSHBI);
-
- -donate staff time to assist in our research and educational
efforts; and
-
- -link TSHBI website from your website(s) as a new information
resource.
